Is it Really an Allergy to the Enviornment?

Today more than ever people are turning to anti-histamines due to allergies.  We all think that environmental changes are causing us to feel tired, stuffy and have more sinus infections.  But, what if it isn't really the environment but a food intolerance instead.

There are several ways you can tell if it is the foods you're eating instead of what is going on in the environment.

  1. Take your heart rate before you eat something.
  2. Eat what you might suspect to be causing your symptoms. Some examples are white breads, pasta, crackers, popcorn, cereals, processed foods and fast food.
  3. Wait 5 minutes and take your pulse again. If it increases by 10 plus beats you more than likely have a food intolerance.

Another sign you could have a food intolerance is if you wake up in a terrible mood, grumpy and fatigued. Ask yourself, "What did I eat before I went to bed?  What was my evening meal?"

In today's world we are all exposed to food additives, dyes, GMO's and BPA's.  We also have a hard time staying away from gluten.  One way to check to see if the food you're eating is actually a food that will give you your vitamins and nutrients to get through your day is to look at the ingredients.  The rule of thumb is if it has more than 5 ingredients, you can't pronounce it, says it is fortified - don't eat it.  If it is a produce item and it is a lot larger than it used to be - don't eat it.  Also, check your bottled water for the acidity levels.  Most bottled waters are too acidic.  One of the best is Fiji water, however, if you're buying one that is cheap and is made from flimsy plastic more than likely it is not good for you.

You may be asking yourself, "What can I do to make sure I am eating healthy and not producing a histamine response?"

  1. Go to your local farmers market.
  2. Create or join a food co op.
  3. Take digestive enzymes.
  4. Take a supplement to help break down the histamine response such as DAO.
  5. Take DIM to prevent false estrogen to be stored in your fat cells.
  6. Use essential oils in your water to elevate your moods, help to support detoxing affects and help to elevate your pH to be more alkaline.

Some good essential oils to try are:

  1. Lemon
  2. Grapefruit
  3. Citrus Fresh
  4. Lime
  5. Thieves
  6. Purification
